Look at what’s lined up for the Nature Club’s programs and events this fall. All our programs are held at the MountainView Ballroom West in SaddleBrooke TWO and begin at 3:30 p.m.
• Oct. 13: “Birds and Birding,” by Jeff Babson, Pima Country Lands and Resources
• Nov. 10: “The Life of Black Bears,” by Sandy Reith
• Dec. 8: “What Are Those Holes in the Ground?,” by Jerry Schudda and Tom Dowell
If you are a member, you may sign up for our club picnic on Oct. 9. Pat Damiana, a docent volunteer, will tell us the history of Catalina State Park. Lunch is provided by the club. Members will receive an email with details. Registration is required. Guests are welcome for a fee of $10.
What did we do this summer? We went to the University’s Tree Ring Lab for a 1.5-hour talk about how tree rings tell us so much about climate history. There was so much interest, we had to schedule two groups, one in August and one in September. The latter one is full, but we are keeping a waitlist. Lunch follows at Blue Willow. Registration is required, and you must be a member of the club.
Following a spring talk about bats, Jeff Babson of Pima Country Lands and Resources is leading us on a tour in early September to see the bats come out from the Campbell Avenue bridge. We will meet for an early dinner that evening and walk to the bridge to learn more about the bats. Registration is required, and you must be a member of the club.
Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of the SaddleBrooke Nature Club is its ability to bring people together. Whether you’re a lifelong naturalist or simply curious about the world around you, the club offers a welcoming space to learn, share, and grow. It’s not just about nature—it’s about community, curiosity, and connection. To become a member, visit the Nature Club website at saddlebrookenatureclub.org. Scroll down and you will find a membership application with instructions. Dues are only $10 per year per person.
We look forward to seeing you at our first fall program meeting on Oct. 13. More information about the upcoming programs and events can be found on our website saddlebrookenatureclub.org.
