The Wicked Witch of the East was the best with her flawless green complexion, scraggly nose, and glittering ruby slippers. Then there was the dapper gondolier with his jaunty hat and starched blacked trousers, flanked by a proctologist with an apropos name, accompanied by Bat Woman. Add to this august group a dazzling flapper straight out of the 1920s, a sexy SWAT team member in stiletto boots with miniature handcuffs dangling from her neck, Ms. Static Cling dripping with dryer sheets, a headband, washcloth, and socks, and even Payne Stewart brought back from the dead, and you end up with a party. And party they did until the witching hour!
Laurie O’Toole, vice president of the SaddleBrooke Singles group, opened her home to the club on Halloween night. It was a wonderful night in a beautiful setting, and more than 30 members not only took advantage of her invitation, but most of them showed up in costume. “It was so much fun having everyone in a less public venue,” Laurie said. “People mingled freely, and I was delighted to see so many new people blend effortlessly into the party.”
The good news is, if you’re single and interested in joining this fun group of more than 100 members, you don’t have to wait until next Halloween to do so. In addition to special events, they meet every Friday night, year-round, for happy hour and dinner at either SaddleBrooke One or SaddleBrooke TWO, depending upon the month.
Membership is $20 a year, which ends Aug. 31, 2026. For more information, contact Lori Anderson, president, at msalaa19@gmail.com.
