The DesertView Cinema Club season starts November 3

Ron Bechky

The DesertView Performing Arts Center opened in 2005. The DesertView Cinema Club started presenting movies there virtually as soon as the theater opened. We’re both beginning our eleventh seasons. Our season will run for seven months, November through April.

The DVCC is a membership club – $10 per person per year. Existing memberships are good through the end of 2015. Membership forms for 2016 will be available at the theater or can be forwarded to you by our Treasurer Bob Goodman ([email protected]). Members pay $2 for admission vs. $3 for everyone else.

Our movie committee, chaired by Ruthe Bergener, is just beginning to select the movies for November and beyond. Contact Ruthe ([email protected]) if you’d like to help in the selection process. As in all prior seasons, we screen the movies coming out on DVDs from the major studios. We always attempt to pick SaddleBrooke appropriate movies, emphasizing story and humor above action and noise.

The DVPAC has undergone some renovations which will enhance the movie experience for our patrons. A new projector, a new far larger screen and improved sound technology have been installed. The DVCC will continue its standing policies: shows on Tuesdays at 2:15 and 7:00 p.m.; onscreen subtitles will be used at all shows.

Look for our ads in the SaddleBrooke papers for our movie schedule. We also send emails to our members and to all residents via the Unit Reps regarding the upcoming week’s show. Finally our website, www.desertviewcc.org, has the full movie schedule plus live links to Netflix and YouTube for the movie trailers.

See y’all at DVCC!
