The British Club Plays Bocce Ball

Mary (Twink) Gates

With an unusually cold front and showers on March 24, it did not deter some members and friends of the British Club from playing bocce ball. With 25 members and eight guests, following the games everyone headed to the home of Bob Zimdar and Twink Gates, who were hosting a potluck picnic, where they feasted on a delicious selection of potluck food contributed by members/guests and consisting of artichoke dip, broccoli slaw, coleslaw, cheese phyllo pastry appetizers, quiche, devilled eggs, scalloped potatoes, sausage rolls, cheese and meat boards, Swedish meatballs, and potstickers.

With coffee and a choice of Irish whisky liquor, the players enjoyed a delicious array of desserts: cheesecake topped with peaches, brownies, fresh fruit plate, and blueberry trifle. Accompanying the BYOB, a refreshing, nonalcoholic fruit punch was served with Malibu coconut rum if desired.

A wonderful bonus to the day was that we had 10 new members sign up for British Club membership!

Everyone agreed it was a fun way to spend an afternoon and evening, and they thanked Twink and Bob for organizing this event for the British Club.
