The British Club Celebrates Cinco de Mayo

The British Club celebrating Cinco de Mayo

It was, of course, the 5th of May when 22 members of the British Club met at the magnificent home of Jill and Tim Frost. Here they were treated to the exceptional desert views of different species of cacti with the backdrop of the majestic mountains, backyard to all the fabulous wildlife we have here: bobcats, coyotes, javelinas, etc.

With wonderful Mexican music playing in the background, members were seated among a vast array of delightful cactus plants within the desert landscaping on the artfully decorated patio. Well-appointed tables were adorned by brightly colored Mexican striped runners, and Mexican flags hanging from the patio roof fluttered joyously in the breeze, adding to the truly wonderful ambiance of the evening.

So much fun was had by all enjoying the Mexican feast and the camaraderie of fellow members and friends. Jill and Tim had prepared an amazing taco stand with corn and flour tortillas with choices of fillings of beef or pulled pork accompanied by pico de gallo, salsas, and guacamole. Among the potluck contributions were chicken enchiladas, chile relleno pie, cream cheese-stuffed red and yellow mini peppers, a selection of seven bean dips, salsas, and tortilla chips. There were delicious desserts of strawberry cake and fruitcake, too!

In keeping with Mexican tradition, blindfolded and with baton in hand, members took turns striking the cactus-shaped piñata dangling from the roof of the patio to release the candies inside. At the end of the evening, members left with favors of Hershey’s chocolate bars!

Everyone thanked Jill and Tim for inviting them into their lovely home here in SaddleBrooke at The Preserve for this super fun gathering.
