The SBWGA-18 President’s Cup is a multi-day match play tournament where participants are placed in four flights determined by their handicap. Flexible scheduling is a plus for this tournament and allows players to have one week to finish their current match. Players do commit to playing all the rounds of golf until its completion. 2017 was exciting as match play can be just that type of tourney, knowing that each hole is a new start – forget the bad and move on to the next. The flight winners were Takeyo Eakin, Deanna McCann, Karen Wendlandt and Peg Wells.
Our President’s Cup winner Takeyo Eakin won her flight; then accomplished the major task of winning over two flight winners. Her final match went to the nineteenth hole – well done! Congratulations, Takeyo, and to everyone who entered, played matches and showed their skills on the course.
From match play to a delightful, fun tournament – Sadie Hawkins. Connie Culley and Takeyo Eakin co-chaired this one-day event. Our Daisy Maes hunted for their Lil Abners to play a shamble and enjoy a great lunch with a special dessert sponsored by Spirit West. First place winners in each flight were First flight Randy and Molly Fulleton, Deb Finn and J.R. Salladay; Second flight Takeyo Eakin, Dave Hargrave, Kay Kunze and John Bettes; Third flight Yolanda Nieman, Shirley Wilkins and Bill Summers.
