Susan Krug, a resident of Unit 17 in HOA 2, has been notified that she is to be featured by the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) in their Portraits of Courage Gallery May 8 in Washington D.C. Susan’s photo and brief text will be featured in the Portraits of Courage Gallery. This gala affair each year, a black tie event, reaches out to an audience of 500 key individuals working with rare diseases and orphan products. She will be an honored guest, hosted by the NORD organization. She was recommended by a member, Jane Costello of the Soft Bones Foundation.
The purpose of this gathering is to honor individuals who display great courage in their experiences with very challenging diseases.
Susan was diagnosed with soft bone disease at birth and was not expected to survive past three years of age. She has just celebrated her 54th birthday and is going strong. She is a very talented individual. While not able to get around without the aid of crutches or wheelchair, she helps her many friends with their computer problems, using her little red golf cart to get around. Her hobbies include painting, gardening and crocheting. She keeps a beautiful cactus garden, flowers and has two active dogs.
While in Washington Susan, accompanied by her sister Ellen, will take the opportunity to visit the many museums and memorials as a once in a lifetime adventure.
This couldn’t happen to a more deserving person.
God speed, Susan.
