SaddleBrooke Sunrise Rotary Club has partnered with IMPACT in many ways and the relationship has been a pleasure for both groups.
Barbara told us that they had recently expanded their service area to help more people in Tucson opening services just south of Oro Valley to River Road, out to Marana, into all Catalina foothill communities and up into the Copper Corridor to Mammoth. The program that is most needed by people in these areas is our clothing bank because the nearest low income clothing service is south of River Road. This budget stretching program will really make a difference for families and seniors in these areas.
The second thing that she told us was their addition of a Respite Care program that they plan to open in late spring, 2017. People will be able to sign up to drop off those they care for, so the caregiver may have time alone to run errands, visit with friends or just stay home and have time to focus on themselves. IMPACT is partnering with a company who will provide professional certified caregivers to work in the program in order to offer the best possible care and appropriate activities. These services will be open to the community and will be offered on a sliding fee scale. Respite Care is a very important service that is not easily accessible in Tucson due to the lack of facilities, growing need and the wide-spread geography of the Tucson basin.
IMPACT is also partnering with the Academy for Care Giving Excellence in the Catalina Foothills. IMPACT clients who are interested will be connected through a scholarship program that will be funded by grants and donations along with some of their Goose profits, to allow people to become certified in just a few months and have a new life skill that can, in turn, bring in much needed income to the family household.
IMPACT is always looking for volunteers. If you are looking for a tax free credit opportunity, or just want to pitch in to help sustain the critical IMPACT programs, feel free to contact them or make a donation online.
