The SaddleBrooke Troop Support (STS) annual golf tournament on March 7, 2015, raised a record amount to benefit Tucson area active and retired military and their families. One hundred sixteen golfers participated at SaddleBrooke HOA1 courses and then enjoyed a buffet lunch at the Vistas Restaurant.

Congratulations to the winning teams: First Place, Jon Grantham, Don Towers and Peter Klinkenberg; Second Place, Yanick Bastien, Brian Colucci, Tony Colucci, and Mark Bruch; Third Place, Bob Buler, Tom Shephard, John Ransom, and Dave Pfister. Peg Wiseback and Tony Cruz won Closest to the Pin contests and Ann Richards won Closest to the Line. Takeyo Eakin, Rich Cole and Dan Nordhill were the three Circle of Gold winners.

Over 80 golfers participated in the unique putting contest – about one third of them hit one of 30 empty wine bottles to win their choice of a bottle of red or white wine worth $15 to $20. One lucky participant took home a bottle of Crown Royal despite its strategic placement behind the wine bottles. The raffle awarded many valuable prizes, including two rounds of golf for four, two swing analysis sessions and hundreds of dollars in gift cards.

Thanks to the many volunteers for contributing their time and talents to making the tournament a success – from creating custom-embroidered golf towels for the participants and gaining the support of area businesses for prizes to running tournament day activities.

The real winners, of course, are the troops and their families who receive 100% of the proceeds of the tournament. The area businesses that donate to STS programs are also recognized and you are encouraged to support them in turn.
