The Oracle School District’s Stuff the Bus paper drive on August 20, 2016 was a huge success! Mountain Vista Elementary School National Junior Honor Society students were kept busy in SaddleBrooke with virtually non-stop cars, golf carts and even a couple of bicycles delivering school supplies. They then traveled to SaddleBrooke Ranch where the community also turned out to help.
Past donations have been generous, but this year set records. Over 100 cases of paper and other supplies were donated. The response was so great that it exceeded the capacity of the bus brought to carry it and a teacher’s truck had to be used for the overflow. Generous donors also gave $1,340 in cash, which was used to purchase over 200 cases of paper already in use in the classrooms.
This Stuff the Bus paper drive is only one of the efforts that enable the District to provide a quality education to its students. The District also counts on Tax Credit donations that taxpayers give each year. Tax credit donations for up to $200 per person reduce your state tax liability dollar-for-dollar and can now be made until April 15 of the next year.
The Oracle Schools Foundation established in 2015 is another vehicle for providing the District the resources it needs. As the Foundation is a 501(c) (3) organization, donations to it are tax deductible on your federal taxes. The Foundation’s second annual Gala is scheduled for Saturday, November 5 at 5:30 p.m. at The Vistas at SaddleBrooke One. This year’s theme is Read to Succeed and funds raised at the event will continue to be used to help fund needs-based preschool scholarships and also now, early childhood literacy. Details about the event and how to get tickets can be found at www.OracleSchoolsFoundation.com.
