Jay Clayton Wilson
SaddleBrooke Tennis Center welcomes two new members to our club. Linda and Mike moved here from Escondido, California. Linda was a native Californian, born in the San Fernando Valley area, otherwise known as a “Valley Girl” and Mike was originally a “Jersey Boy.”
Before they married eight years ago, Linda was a Community Association Manager, working for a large homeowner’s association management company. After graduating from San Diego State University, Mike worked for many large aerospace/defense contractors, a list that includes Lockheed Martin, as a Senior Staff Contracts Administrator/Manager.
Over their adult years, both had multiple interests that included hiking, backpacking, snow skiing, fitness workouts and a Harley Davidson group called the Black Sheep (a Christian motorcycle club). Faithfully invested in their church life and a desire to volunteer and help others, they assisted at their local Life Care Center. But tennis had been their prime passion. Both Linda and Mike served on their homeowners Board of Directors, Mike also served on his professional contracts association Board of Directors as the Community Outreach Chairperson and Mike also served on the Rancho Bernardo Community Tennis Club Board of Directors as their Tennis Social organizer.
Linda and Mike met at their church through its mega-sized singles ministry which organized tennis and many other activities. They were married in 2009 and for Mike, at the age of 57, this was his first marriage which surprised many of his friends. As a married couple, things were going well for them in California. The next eight years were filled with tennis, work, southern California sunshine, motorcycling, church, more volunteer work and the occasional trip to Palm Desert to play with a tennis group called “Fun in the Sun.” They also found time to travel to Italy, France, the Canadian Rockies and domestically. Further travel is high on their future agenda.
Then came retirement. With an invitation from friends in the Vistoso Ranch area, they made a trip to Tucson. In short, they fell in love with SaddleBrooke Preserve and the very warm welcome they received from Bob Stocks when they checked out our club. Immediately upon arrival, they joined STC and started playing tennis with our wonderful members, all of whom are similarly situated and have common goals for their lives. Linda and Mike now are part of a large community of active adults who value fun and work at maintaining good health. They found a perfect balance for their lives at STC where everyone shares virtually the same objectives. STC supports the membership and is dedicated to the health and enjoyment of all SaddleBrooke residents. That makes it a perfect home for Linda and Mike Oberski.
That’s the thing about STC. It is the venue for fun in the outdoors. To join us, just call Connie Kacer, membership chair, at 825-7585, or the STC office at 825-0255. It’s that easy.
