Having completed our first major tournament, the Presidents Cup, a net match play format, March began with our second major tournament of the year, the Club Championship, a “Run for the Roses.” Divided into three main flights (Championship, Seniors, and Legends), this gross tournament was played over three days so that all three nine-hole courses were played twice. Thirty-eight women competed, and the winners were feted at a lively party held at the Activities Center.

The winners were as follows: Legends: Margie Buhler, Seniors: Takeyo Eakin, and, ta-da, Champion: Sue Dischner. The tournament was chaired by Geri Sandilands and Leanne McClelland. A wonderful spread of food was coordinated by Laura Ingold and Ruth Irving. They were assisted by bartenders Kenlon Johnson and Jim McClelland. Sponsors for the tournament were Fairway Cooling and Heating; Peggy Bakos, travel consultant; Andy’s Irrigation; and Desert Life Pharmacy.

Obviously, word has spread about what a great group we are, as new members keep joining. The newest members are Teresa Jenkins, big sister Sally Drennen; Mari Gomolla, big sister Deb Fenton; Jennifer Waggoner, big sister Marsha Camp; and Wendy O’Dell, big sister Connie Culley.
