Tucson’s Studio West School of Dance is hosting the second Spring Dance Expo at MountainView HOA 2 on Sunday, March 15. The Spring Dance Expo (modeled after the successful 10 year running Summer Dance Expo held in August) features professional ballroom dancers exhibiting their trade with dance amateurs for a day long dance gala.
The tentative schedule is as follows:
From 10:00 a.m. to noon the dances showcased are the smooth and standard styles which include the foxtrot, waltz, tango, Viennese waltz and the exciting quickstep. The smooth dances are where the ladies wear a flowing ballgown and the men wear tail suits.
A one hour lunch break is at noon. There is a choice of a plated lunch offered for $25 which must be ordered ahead of time.
From 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. featured are the country western style dances. These dances are very popular in our part of the country and will have you tapping your foot to the honky tonk sounds of the current country artists.
From 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. showcased are the exotic rhythm dances such as the cha cha, rumba, samba, salsa, swing and many more!
To close out the day, our local professionals perform and delight our audience.
The Expo is a full day of beautiful dancing, gorgeous costumes and enticing music (supplied by DJ Dave Pena) all for $5!
