The Spanish Culture Club of SaddleBrooke (SCC) is a culture club, not a language club. It is composed of a group of social and intellectually curious Brookers that seek to expand their knowledge of Latin culture within the Old Pueblo and beyond. This is accomplished through monthly meetings that include speakers and potluck buffets, twice-monthly Spanish-speaking breakfasts and excursions to local events and restaurants.
Spanish-speaking (definitely not required) breakfasts meet on the second and fourth Mondays at 8:30 a.m. Upcoming breakfasts are on November 13 and December 11 at the Bistro and November 27 at the Roadrunner. There will not be a breakfast on December 25.
Spanish-Speaking Only Lunches are at noon on the first Monday of each month at the Bistro. November’s lunch will be on the second and December’s on the fourth. Drop by and practice your language skills.
At our October meeting we expanded our exploration of Latin America by viewing Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Participants found it an enriching experience.
Our November 20 meeting will feature Judy Freeman, SaddleBrooke’s delightful and dedicated Spanish teacher. She will tell us about Copper Canyon’s history, resources and people. Judy led a trip to Copper Canyon last year and will impart to you her knowledge and insight of that region. The meeting will be at the Activity Center at 5:30 p.m. Bring a potluck dish and your beverage of choice.
We will also hold elections for the 2018 Board at the November meeting. Membership dues for 2018 ($20) will be due at the meeting.
There will not be a meeting in December.
Please join us at our next meeting. If you choose to become a member, the annual fee is $20. For more information contact President Kathy Volpe ([email protected], 520-818-9174).
