One day last spring a few ladies from Resurrection at SaddleBrooke were talking about ways to more deeply engage the women of the church in close fellowship. We all have friends with whom we volunteer, play golf or tennis or pickle ball, enjoy bingo, mahjong or bridge and socialize with at neighborhood parties. We meet with other church folks at patio parties, potlucks and Bible studies. What seemed missing was an opportunity for the women of the church to join in a close sisterhood with others from Resurrection and truly grow to know one another through a safe and sharing environment. From this discussion the concept of Soul Sisters began.
Expecting about a dozen ladies to participate initially, Resurrection’s Soul Sisters welcomed more than 26 ladies to their first gatherings in May and June. As our snowbirds start to return, we anticipate even larger numbers. The one overarching rule is that nothing shared from the heart leaves the group when each luncheon is over.
Soul Sisters is a prayerful gathering where the ladies grow in their relationships with one another and in their Christian faith. The group meets for lunch the third Thursday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the East Room at the MountainView Bistro. We order off the menu and receive individual checks from the service staff. The first meeting for fall is scheduled for Thursday, September 16.
If you are interested in joining the Soul Sisters for our September luncheon, please contact Karen Hustad by email at [email protected]. You may also call her at 520-664-7001.
Resurrection Church at SaddleBrooke is an all-denominational church that holds Sunday worship services at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday in the Vermilion Room at the HOA1 Clubhouse. With snowbirds returning soon, the church will return to two services (8:30 and 10:00 a.m.) beginning in October. All are welcome.
