Sonoran Singers
Georgie Hourigan
Sonoran Singers were thrilled to perform for the first time at DesertView Theater on April 14. Senior Village sponsored this Music Matinee where they have monthly free events featuring our local talents.
Sonoran Singers, led by our talented director Cora Peters, sang such songs as “Joy to the World,” “Red River Valley,” “Shenandoah,” and even “Singing in the Rain,” with Saul Peters entertaining with a Gene Kelly rendition. Cora also soloed with “I Believe.” Each chorus member did a small part, with songs such as “Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better)” and “Everybody Loves a Lover.”
There were 136 audience members, and we are hoping there will be more in December when we come back. Meanwhile, after two performances in assisted living facilities, we will take a two-month hiatus before getting ready with our Christmas and patriotic music.
There must be ladies who might like to join us. We have room for more second sopranos especially. Contact Carol Merlini at 520-825-0563. We are a lively group of women who consider ourselves sisters in song. We meet weekly at the MountainView clubhouse.
