The five week Winter Softball Season has ended. It began January nine and went until April 21. Thank you to Pat Tiefenbach and Jim Smith for our team photos. Let’s see the results:
Monday Recreation – This was close but Webbscapes Landscaping, led by manager Tim Benjamin, came in first with a record of seven wins, six losses. Second place went to Dale Norgard’s team sponsored by W&W Physical Therapy, with six wins, seven losses.
Monday Community – Coming out on top in a field of four teams, John Nola managed Waste Management to the championship. They won nine games, lost five. Second place was a tie with both teams finishing with seven wins and seven losses. Those teams were A Closer Look Real Estate Inspection, Captain Ken Beals and Ambient Air Heating and Cooling, managed by Ron Quarantino. Bring home the last place award was John Sentowski’s team from Window Wizard; their record was five wins, nine losses.
Tuesday Competitive – The battle for first place was fierce, but coming out on top with 11 wins, only three losses, was Allstate Insurance – Bruce Unger, with Ron Quarantino handling manager duties. A close second place went to Charlie LaNeve’s guys from BRAKEmax, finishing with 10 wins and four losses. A distant third place went to Chuck Kill’s team sponsored by Big Bear Garage Door Services, with their record of four wins, 10 losses. Bringing up the rear was Bank of the West, headed up by Steve Garceau, with three wins, 11 losses.
Tuesday Community – Caliber Collision had Jack Graef at the helm and finished first with nine wins, five losses. Second place went to Barron Electric, led by Jim Takacs, with five wins and nine losses.
Thursday Coyote – With their solid record of 15 wins and five losses, Canyon Community Bank ran away with the championship. Jim Dunlap managed this team, who scored the most runs (358) of any team in all leagues this winter. In second place, Howie Emmons led Copper Health with 10 wins and 10 losses. Third place went to Ron Romac’s team from DS Builders and Remodeling, with five wins, 15 losses.
Friday Competitive – Golf Cars of Arizona captured first with their record of 10 wins, four losses. Harold Weinenger wrote the line-ups; this team had over 300 runs on the season. Second place was a tie between Coyote Golf Cars, led by Jeff Stolze and Firefly Fireplaces and Supplies, with Rick Keagy in charge. Both teams finished with eight wins, six losses. Last place went to Central Alarm with a character-building season of only two wins, 12 losses. Sidney Wilson was in charge of morale as well as line-ups.
Friday Community – With the best record of any team in the winter season, Community Church SaddleBrooke, managed by Ron Finelli, had 17 wins and only one loss to be crowned the champs. Hardin Brothers Automotive, led by Jack Graef, finished second with seven wins, 12 losses. Third place went to Dennis Purcell’s team sponsored by Dominick’s Real Italian. They had four wins, 15 losses.
It’s fun, it’s competitive, it’s friendly. The men and women of SaddleBrooke Softball play year round. Our spring season has begun and games start by 8:00 a.m. most weekdays.
