Every year the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL), during the summer solstice week, holds “The Longest Day” event to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. From sunrise to sunset, members across the country host tournaments, teach lessons, and play multiple sessions to advance the cause. This year, SaddleBrooke’s Small Slams Bridge Club will participate in The Longest Day by hosting a bridge game to raise funds. Every dollar raised will benefit those affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
Our Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Association game will be held on Thursday, June 19, at the SaddleBrooke One Activity Center. Sign-in begins at 12:30 p.m. and the game starts at 1 p.m. You don’t have to be a member of ACBL to play; however, the game is limited to players with no more than 1000 masterpoints. Extra masterpoints will be awarded.
In addition to the bridge game, there will be refreshments served after the game and there will also be a 50/20-20-10 raffle, with 50% going to Alzheimer’s and three winners.
For this special bridge game, the fee to play is $10 per player. We encourage you to pay by check made out to the Alzheimer’s Association for $10 or more. If you pay by cash, Small Slams will send money collected as one check to the Alzheimer’s Association.
If you are not a member of Small Slams and wish to play, please email us at SmallSlamsBridgeClub@gmail.com for reservations.
You can support the fundraiser by contributing money to the Alzheimer’s Association, even if you’re not playing bridge that day. Checks should be made out to Alzheimer’s Association and mailed to Small Slams, c/o R. Kaas, 38419 S. Golf Course Drive, Tucson, AZ 85739.
Small Slams Bridge Club is ACBL sanctioned and holds duplicate games that award ACBL masterpoints. Normally, it is limited to SaddleBrooke One and SaddleBrooke TWO residents and their guests with 0-1000 masterpoints. Small Slams holds games every Thursday at 1 p.m. in the SaddleBrooke One Activity Center. Our website is www.bridgewebs.com/smallslams.
