Getting ready to putt in the bright morning sunshine

Monday mornings at 8:30 a.m. in June and July were certainly warm for the SaddleBrooke Verde Sputters, but a dedicated cohort of players turned up every week to sink their putts, earn their stars, and win some money. The smiles, the cheers, and the friendly competition continues on the SaddleBrooke One putting green all summer long. Come join us! Annual membership dues of $60 are prorated. Any resident or renter who does not belong to an established golf league is welcome.

In the month of June, Sputters earned a total of 104 holes-in-one over four Mondays of play! In addition to Jean Matheson’s five holes-in-one, we celebrated four of them by Karen Taylor. Coming in with three were Debbie Bornmann, Opal Larkin, Connie Kotke, Carolyn Jones, and Jay Dunn.
Each week, two particularly challenging holes on the course are designated as “money holes.” Putters getting a hole-in-one earn a $5 cash prize. In June, our money hole winners were Jean Matheson, Hazel Roper, Sue Brunsting, Sheelagh Simpson, Peg Achter, Carol Jones, Lana Steinert, and Kathie Roberts.

In July, Sputters earned a total of 90 holes-in-one. Coming in with four during a single round were Hazel Roper and Opal Larkin. Star Williams, Pam Elvey, and Donna McPherson each turned in three.
