On June 11, Dan Schroeder recorded his second career hole-in-one. It just so happens that both occurred this year and even Dan cannot explain what the devil has happened. For those of you who are wondering how many holes-in one have now been recorded by HOA 2 Men’s Club members this year the answer is twelve. Unbelievable! This time the sixth hole at the Preserve Golf Club was Dan’s victim. It was Saturday and he was paired with Al Tracy, Cliff Huggins and Keith Offord—all members of his regular Saturday group. Dan remembers that his shot on six was about 120 yards and he used his trusty eight iron. This time he clearly remembers following the ball as it landed on the green and rolled into the hole. Every one of his partners confirmed that it did, in fact, happen. Congratulations, one more time.
Dan, as many of you of you know, is from Chicago and he and his wife Karen have been full time SaddleBrooke residents for about six years. Golf has been a part of Dan’s recreation for over fifty years but it has become his passion since retirement brought him to the desert. A fairly serious celebration followed after the conclusion of play and as the stories flowed we were reminded of just a few other recent accomplishments that Dan had enjoyed. In addition to his two aces this year Dan has also had four, yes four, eagles—number eight at SaddleBrooke Ranch, number six at MountainView, number five at the Preserve and number fifteen at the Raven in Phoenix. How does one make a reservation on Dan’s train?
