On May 22 Brenda McBride and I left Tucson to begin travel for our Celebrity Scandinavian cruise! We flew to Minneapolis and on to Amsterdam. We spent one night there, just enough time to ride a train, walk around the heart of this city which we had both visited previously, and enjoy a delicious dinner at Gio, an Italian restaurant recommended by SaddleBrooke friends.
On May 24 we boarded the Celebrity Silhouette in an extremely well organized way. We went directly to our first buffet lunch, which was delicious! We had fabulous food at every meal on the 13-day cruise. We usually enjoyed the buffet for breakfast and lunch but enjoyed the elegance of dinner served in the main dining room. The “anytime seating” and “sharing” offered by Celebrity gave us a chance to meet many people from many different countries. The best dinner was in the Murano specialty dining room. We ate there on May 28, my oldest son’s birthday, but I felt justified in telling them it was my birthday. They provided a special Happy Birthday chocolate dessert in addition to the others we ordered. The lobster was prepared tableside, and it was served with chateaubriand, which was amazing!
Our port stops were Stavanger, Norway; Skagerrak and Visby, Sweden; Tallinn, Estonia; Stockholm, Sweden; and, lastly, two days in Copenhagen. We had guided walking tours in Tallinn, where we walked more than eight miles, and Copenhagen, walking almost seven miles! Other days we loved the hop on/hop off buses and even a hop on/hop off a boat in Stockholm. All the tours provided so much current information and history, and we even visited beautiful synagogues in Tallinn and Copenhagen.
I highly recommend this exciting adventure!
