SBR Veterans Club Invites SaddleBrooke Veterans to Join Their Club

Roy Thompson, Chairman, SBR Veterans Club

I’m pleased to announce that SaddleBrooke Ranch HOA has approved the inclusion of SaddleBrooke community veterans in our Veterans Club business meetings/membership.

I believe this to be a significant step forward for all SaddleBrooke communities’ resident veterans to be as one organization to foster camaraderie, respect the flag and military traditions, honor veterans and their families, and promote awareness and appreciation for their services.

The monthly club business meeting is held on the second Monday of the month. Our charitable support includes Mammoth Veterans Cemetery, Wreaths Across America, celebrating veterans’ holidays, and transportation assistance to and from the VA Hospital.

Memorial Day Program 2022: Memorial Day, May 30, was a day to honor and recognize the sacrifices made by those who have died in service to our country. Veterans have watched fathers, sons, and daughters go to war. We have mourned the loss of many of our battle buddies.

I find it extremely difficult to understand how anyone could combine the word “happy” with Memorial Day. Yet, I realize that those who have sacrificed for our freedoms would want us to enjoy this holiday weekend. If asked, they would like us to honor their lives by enjoying American pastimes and spending time with family and friends. After all, they fought and died so we could live.

We should celebrate the freedoms and blessings we have been given as Americans, but let us not forget who made living this American dream a reality. Our fellow veterans and residents took time to honor our fallen veterans on Memorial Day. A brief ceremony honoring our fallen veterans commenced at approximately 11:00 hours at the La Hacienda Club/Bistro poolside and was followed by live music and BBQ brisket, burgers, hot dogs, and more.
