On April 25 Debbie Thompson and her committee hosted a real favorite event for the SaddleBrooke Lady Niners – the annual Ladies Choice event. For this tournament, our ladies play with a gentleman who is not her spouse or significant other. It was a beautiful day, with all participants decked out in black and white – the theme of the day. We played a Modified Chapman format, which was a lot of fun despite the efforts of Mother Nature to dampen our spirits. I should say weaken our spirits, since as it was a beautiful sunny day, it was windy. While we didn’t see Auntie Em or Toto flying by, we did need rocks in our pockets not to be blown away! Nonetheless, we had a wonderful time.
After our windy round, we retired to the Vistas Dining Room for another delicious luncheon prepared by our Food and Beverage Staff. After our meal, Pro Bernie Eaton announced our winners. They were 1st place – Dian Kupper and Mike Maharg; 2nd place – Arlene Fuller and Tom Seuss; 3rd place – Charlotte James and Gary Brunelle; 4th place – Robbie Summers and Larry Clarke and 5th place – Sally Basting and Tom Radford. Our Closest to the Pin winners were Robbie Summers for the ladies and Larry Tollman for the men. Congratulations to all! We want to thank Debbie and her committee, as well as our photographer extraordinaire Bob Koblewski and our Pros Bernie Eaton and Troy Jewkes!
Next up on our agenda was the annual President’s Cup, played on May 2, 4, 6 and 9. This is another favorite due to its format – we used Match Play to narrow the field down to the eventual winner. Stay tuned for the results in the next issue!
