SaddleBrooke’s Chris Madsen is heading to USTA Nationals with the Racket Rebels!
Chris Madsen, SaddleBrooke’s beloved teaching pro and captain of the Tucson-based Racket Rebels, is once again proving that leadership, grit, and a love for tennis can take you far—literally. This October, Chris Madsen will head west to San Diego to represent the Southwest USTA 4.5 Men’s 40+ team at the prestigious USTA National Championships, held Oct. 24–26.
Chris’ path to Nationals has been nothing short of stellar. Under his guidance, the Racket Rebels blazed through the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record. Chris himself posted an undefeated 4-0 record in regular season play, showcasing not only his skill but his consistency under pressure.
The Southwest Sectionals in Albuquerque added another layer of drama and triumph. Heading into the final day, three teams were locked in a 2-1 tie, making every match critical. The Rebels needed to win their final showdown, and they did. But that wasn’t enough. They also needed the New Mexico team to defeat the New Mexico Wild Card team. In a thrilling twist, both outcomes went their way, securing the Rebels’ spot at Nationals with a 3-1 team win.
For Chris, this isn’t just about competition—it’s about camaraderie, mentorship, and the enduring spirit of tennis. His leadership continues to inspire players across SaddleBrooke and Tucson, and his upcoming appearance at Nationals is a testament to what dedication and teamwork can achieve.
Let’s cheer on Chris and the Racket Rebels as they take on the nation’s best this October.
Go Rebels!
