This will be the fifth annual visit by The Tennis Cabana to SaddleBrooke. All lines of tennis apparel and footwear along with accessories will be available. Jake and Blake will bring a bevy of new Wilson tennis racquets to demo; additionally a variety of strings, grips and footwear will be on hand as well. On Saturday, November 18, STC plays host to a multifaceted fundraising event for the University of Arizona Cancer Center’s Skin Cancer Institute (SCI). STC will provide event spectators with bagels/cream cheese, rolled sandwiches, water and soft drinks all to be served by friendly STC volunteers; donations will be eagerly accepted. Additionally, a silent auction of valuable items and services will be conducted. Denise Spartonos, Community Outreach Coordinator for SCI, explains, “Every dollar raised stays at the Cancer Center and is used for research, patient care and community outreach.”
Also on November 18, the University of Arizona Wildcat Men’s and Women’s (NCAA Division I) Tennis Teams will do their part to support the fundraiser by making another memorable visit to the Tennis Center. There’s something exciting about watching the quickness and agility of young athletes. The opportunity to see these ladies and men on the tennis court will raise our own ambitions and excite in us the will to persevere against the aging process.
From December 27 through 31 the STC will be one of 10 Tucson area host sites for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) 2017 Winter Nationals Championship Tournament. The top 512 players (128 for each age and gender) from the entire nation in the 12 and 14-year bracket for boys and girls will be here to compete for the national championship title. Not only do these youngsters mature physically by participating in this popular sport, their competitive spirit yields rewards in terms of scholarships at the finest colleges and universities all over the world. What a treat for SaddleBrooke!
