Millions for Tucson Raffle—It’s A Win-Win

SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network is excited to announce that they are once again participating in the Jim Click Millions for Tucson Raffle, which supports 501(c)(3) organizations based in Southern Arizona. The Grand Prize is a 2025 Kia Carnival Hybrid SX Prestige. Second prize is two first-class round-trip airline tickets to anywhere in the world (restrictions apply). Third prize is $5,000.00 cash.

Tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100. The drawing will take place Dec. 11, 2025, and you need not be present to win. Please visit millionsfortucson.org for the details and raffle rules.

To purchase your ticket(s), you may call or text Romayne Trudo at 520-834-5718. Please help us support the rescue groups and shelters in our area. Thank you in advance for your support.

Please do not leave items unless volunteers are present.

Please drive slowly and watch for our volunteers at the cones!

Harley

Happy Tail: Harley Is a Superstar

Romayne Trudo

Harley, a sweet, 12-year-old shepherd/heeler mix, has had many ups and downs the past few months. His owner became very ill at the beginning of 2025 and was hospitalized. SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network (SBPRN) was contacted for help finding a temporary foster for Harley. It quickly became more complicated, and we realized that Harley would need more than a temporary foster. Arrangements were made with Doreen’s Doggie Daycare in Catalina to board Harley for an indefinite period of time. While boarding, he became ill and was taken to a local veterinary clinic. To make a long story short, they eventually diagnosed Harley with stomach ulcers, which requires a special diet and medication. In the midst of all of this turmoil, Harley’s owner passed away. SBPRN began working with the owner’s son, and it was decided to try to find a permanent home for Harley, which would not be an easy task because of his age and medical condition.

Here’s where the story gets good: One of the SBPRN board members, Marge Boulden, who has a real affinity for senior cats and dogs, heard about Harley and offered to foster Harley with the option to adopt. She has truly become Harley’s guardian angel and officially adopted him on March 25, 2025. Harley continues to have a few health issues, but with Marge’s tender loving care, he is beginning to show real improvement. He now shares his life with another rescue senior dog and two kitties. It is the happiest of homes.

Happy Tail: Mozart’s Long Journey

Diane Korn

Hi, my name is Mozart Korn, and here’s my story. I don’t remember much about my journey before being dropped off at Pima Animal Care and Control Center on Jan. 2, 2024. I do remember being very scared when someone put me in a small cage and all these people were staring at me. They took pictures of my left hind leg, which I later learned was broken, and stuck me with lots of needles. I overheard them saying I was seven to eight years old, and they talked about amputation, whatever that means.

Amidst the chaos, a really nice lady named Rochelle took me out of the cage and held me close. I felt so warm and safe. Imagine my joy when Rochelle (who I later learned was from RoRescue) took me home with her that very same day. I didn’t even have to stay overnight at the shelter—my first lucky break (pardon the pun)!

I stayed with Rochelle for a few days and then found myself in Mexico undergoing surgery on my broken leg. Unbeknownst to me, Rochelle contacted SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network (SBPRN) to help get funding for my surgery. Incidentally, Rochelle’s rescue organization RoRescue is one of the many local rescue groups that SBPRN helps support. Through its fundraising efforts and with the help of all its generous donors, the network is able to help fund medical procedures just like the one I had to fix my leg. But I digress.

The funding was approved, and Diane, one of the board members, asked to see a picture of me. I don’t want to brag, but I think I stole her heart when she saw me! When Rochelle asked Diane if she wanted to foster me while I healed, Diane immediately agreed—the second time Lady Luck was shining down on me.

Fast forward eight months and two surgeries later. Yes, the original surgery failed, and I had to have a second surgery, this time done in Tucson, to help repair my broken leg. The surgeon inserted some artificial bone in the joint along with a compression plate and screws. I’m happy to report that the second surgery was a success, and I am now walking on all four legs just like all my furry friends!

It’s no surprise that I worked my way into my foster mom’s heart, and she officially adopted me on Aug. 24, 2024. Thanks to the generous contributions from donors such as yourselves, I was able to make use of the resources available to help my leg heal.

Thanks to my rescue mom Rochelle for offering me love and care during that stressful time back in January, and thanks to my forever mom Diane who took a chance on fostering and then adopting a senior dog with a broken leg.

I hope you find my story heartwarming and, more importantly, a testament to the power of love and kindness in giving animals just like me a second chance at life. With much appreciation and gratitude to SBPRN, I am, Mozart Korn.
