The SaddleBrooke Lady Niners welcomed fall with their annual Turkey Shoot on November 7. With unusually warm days for this time of year, we were greeted with a slight drop in temperature to make it feel like fall on that particular day. The winner of this contest is the lady who hits her drive closest to the squiggly line on SaddleBrooke No. 3. The winner for 2017 is Val Malik! Her drive earned her the prize of a gift certificate for Bashas’ – perfect with Thanksgiving on the way. Congratulations, Val!
Play was followed by a delicious luncheon in the Agave Lounge, along with our general meeting. President Maria Byers introduced our Assistant Pro Troy Jewkes, who gave us a few pointers now that the courses are all open (we want to keep our courses just as beautiful as they are now!). After the officers’ reports, Maria gave us reminders about dates for the many upcoming events – especially our next one, which is the Holiday Luncheon on December 12. For this event, we have several special and important guests joining us – members of the Golder Ranch Fire Department. This is because of our annual Toys for Tots and Teens Drive. We have several members who have volunteered to collect the toys and games, which are then used as our table decorations for the luncheon in the Vistas Dining Room. After the luncheon, the firemen load up the gifts and take them back to the station for distribution to the children and teenagers. This is always a very successful drive – as a matter of fact, in several years past they have collected so many items to give out that they lasted up until the fourth of July. Quite a haul for such a worthy cause!
We look forward to flowing right on into 2018. If you’d like to join us for all the fun and good times on the course, just drop by the computer room of the Pro Shop and pick up an application. We’d love to have you join us!
