Every month in fall and spring we offer a free presentation on a computer related topic to all SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch residents and guests. On Monday, November 20 at 1:00 p.m. Penny Stigers and another presenter will demonstrate New Features in iOS 11 for Your iPhone and iPad in the MountainView Clubhouse West Ballroom. User-friendly and approachable, iOS 11 is just plain fun! Your improved productivity may make you wonder if you still really need a computer. One of our presenters was a regular and special education teacher who always used Macs in the classroom and is our most experienced Mac instructor. Penny used PCs for 32 years while working at Sunset magazine, bought her first iPad in 2001 and has been a passionate iPad evangelist ever since. We’re pleased to have her join us this year.
Usually occurring on the third Monday of the month, our meetings customarily include a Q&A session and a drawing for a semi-fabulous door prize. Our next presentation will take place on December 18, topic TBA; check our website for the latest information.
We offer classes for new and experienced users of PCs, Macs, iPads and iPhones. We are a registered nonprofit organization about to start our twentieth year of community service. Every dollar we collect goes to provide classroom equipment, supplies and operating expenses. All of our instructors, directors and assistants are SaddleBrooke residents volunteering their time and effort.
Enrollment for 2018 classes opens on December 15. If you are not yet a member, you will need to join before you can enroll. Membership is still $55/single and $80/couple; this fee includes all available online and classroom lessons for the entire initial calendar year. After that initial year, the annual class participation fee is just $30. Payments for next year will be accepted starting November 15. Act promptly and you can take classes next year at this year’s rate. Our first fee increase in eight years ($5) will take effect as of January 1, 2018.
You can get our most current information and find out more about our organization through our website at saddlebrookecc.org. Membership applications, payment options and class enrollments are also available here for your convenience.
Online Shopping Tips:
More and more of us are shopping online, especially during the winter holiday season. There are a few simple precautions all of us should routinely use. Use a credit card to limit potential losses, not a debit card, and check your statements regularly for fraudulent charges. A prepaid credit card can reduce potential losses even further. Restrict your shopping to secure websites only – the name should start with https://. Never shop on public wireless or public computers. Do not allow shopping sites to store your credit card information – thieves are attracted to these high value targets.
