SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch Senior Softball Action!

Fred Mitchell

Well, SaddleBrooke and Ranch Senior Softball fans, here it is May 25 and Progress deadline time. Here’s the past and future in the action-packed world of SB softball.

Tournament Action—May 26 (Memorial Day)

Yep, softball aficionados, the SSSA Memorial Day Tournament will be in the books two weeks when this paper hits your mailbox. More on that next edition, but considering past Memorial Day tournaments here in the Brooke, there was fun down at the ballpark. The tournament was appreciatively sponsored by Ambient Air Heating & Cooling (sponsors since 2006!) and Debra Miller-State Farm. Of course a shout-out and a remembrance this Memorial Day to all those who have fallen while serving our country.

Spring League Action

Well, Spring league is three weeks in, and the bats are a rockin’.

On Mondays in Recreational, Truly Nolen has jumped out to a 2-1 league lead over Tucson Golf Cars at 1-2. Then over to Community where Ridgeview Physical Therapy is also out to a 2-1 start, with Splendido (Life Plan Community) at 1-2. And a little shout-out here for loooooooong-time SB softballer, the ageless Ron Quarantino, who at this writing is 10 fer 10 in Rec with a three-bagger and a tater there in the mix. And just so’s you know, the Qster is also slapping it around in the Wednesday Sidewinder league as well and the Friday Community league where, in 12 at bats (7 officially cuz of the 5 walks), Ron’s batting .857 with an on-base percentage of .917 (on base 11 of his 12 trips to the plate). Way to slap it where they ain’t, Ron.

On Tuesdays, it’s just the Competitive boys and girls with Tucson Orthopaedic and Twin Lake Air matched up with 1-1 records. Could be a tight battle, folks. But it’s still early.

On Wednesdays there’s Community and Sidewinder leagues. In Community, Tom Ottaway-State Farm is off to a 2-1 start, with The Moore Advantage, Long Real Estate trailing at 1-2. Then in Sidewinders, Waste Management is 2-1, with Wildfire Wings at 1-2.

Thursday is Coyote league, and the 65-plussers have The Charles Company out to a 2-1 league lead, with SaddleBrooke Remodeling at 1-2.

Finally, on Fridays in Competitive, X-Pert Automotive is off to a 2-1 start, with Your CBD Store at 1-2. And in Community, Stone Canyon Painting has stormed out to a 3-0 start, with Robson Communities taking the beating (for now) at 0-3.

Anyhoo, that’s a wrap! C’mon down to the field and check out the action. The softball junkies will be down at the field every weekday slapping the softball around. Ditto Saturday mornings when the softballers fine tune the gloves and bats with some batting and fielding practice. Or you can surf the SSSA at saddlebrookesoftball.com. The action is sure to be hot and heavy, and we know the weather will be, so turn up the A/C!
