King Mitchell
Well, SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch Senior Softball fans, here it is Oct. 24 and Progress/Roundup deadline time. So, time to break out the old Smith Corona and tap a few keys.
Ranchers Welcome!
That’s what I said! Yeah, all you Ranchers, in case you didn’t know, are welcome to come on down to the SaddleBrooke softball field, check it all out, and, if you’re feeling like strapping on the cleats again, sign up.
Veterans Day Tournament
Our annual Veterans Day Tournament on Nov. 9, appreciatively sponsored by Beyond Clean, will be in the books by the time you read this. I’ll give you some highlights in the next edition. I hope you had an opportunity to get on down to the field for some Brooke and Ranch softball dramedy. Next up? St. Paddy’s Day next March!
Fall League Action
Meantime, the Fall League started up on Oct. 7 and is in full swing. About this time, the “holdouts” (snowbirds) from up north start drifting back down, and the league rosters finally fill out. So, we’re three weeks in and back in full swing!
On Mondays in Recreational, Debra Miller-State Farm is off to a 2-1 start over Cleere Law Offices at 1-2. In Community, Kristy McInnis-Coldwell Banker has jumped out to a 3-1 start, along with Pride Mechanical. Unfortunately, Desert Life Pharmacy at 0-4 has been the punching bag for now. Perhaps a personnel “rearrangement” may come on down for them.
On Tuesdays in Community, Golf Cars of Arizona has been the class of the league for now, jumping out to a 4-0 start, with both Absolutely Art and Healthy Skin Dermatology off to 1-3 starts. In Competitive, Brittni Guttman-Allstate has a tight 2-1 lead over Catalina Family Dental at 1-2.
In Wednesday Community, Canine & Company is 2-1, while their partner in softball mayhem, Barron Electric, is 1-2. Over to Sidewinder, and Old Pueblo Trash Haulers have hauled out to a 3-0 start over Nara Brown-Long Realty at 0-3. Trade winds in the air? We’ll see.
Thursdays are Coyote days, and Concierge Heating and A/C are at 2-1, with Dominick’s Italian at 1-2.
Finally, over to Fridays and in Competitive, Big Bear Garage Doors have hammered out a 3-0 start, with SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue at 1-2 and Community Church of SaddleBrooke at 0-2. In Community, Hughes Credit Union is off to a 2-0 start, with Janine Denning-Coldwell Banker Realty staggering out to a 0-2 start.
Anyhoo, you can always come down to the field and check the softball action Monday through Friday. Or you can surf us at saddlebrookesoftball.com. There is softball action every weekday, practices twice a week, and a league for all skill levels. So, if you were thinking about dusting off the cleats, oiling up the glove, and getting the bat out of storage, c’mon down and give us a look. We’re always looking for new players. And just so’s you “SaddleBrooke Ranchers” know, the association welcomes your participation. Check it out!
