Jim Wollock and his SaddleBrooke Softball mates.
All right softball fans of the Brooke (and beyond), it’s deadline time for the mid-June issue of the Progress and your humble scribe is comin’ atcha with the latest and greatest (well, latest) in SaddleBrooke Senior softball action.
Spring League Action
Yeah, I know, it’s starting to feel like summer. But it’s Spring league time. Spring leagues started up May 5 and will run an eight week season to the end of June.
On Mondays, in Recreational, Robson Communities has jumped out to a 2-1 lead over Debra Miller-State Farm which is at 1-2. Early yet, tho, folks! Over in Community, X-Pert Automotive is off to a 3-0 start, while Twin Lakes Air, at 0-3, is going to have to find some way to cool X-Pert off.
Tuesdays are a one league day this Spring. Competitive has gotten in three games as of this writing, with Andy’s Irrigation at 2-1 to Ann Fraley-Long Realty’s 1-2.
Wednesdays have Sidewinder and Community action. In Sidewinder, Leah Kari Solutions is off to a 2-1 start with Lynda Meyers—Long Realty at 1-2. “Long” way to go yet, though! In Community, it’s ditto for The Moore Advantage Real Estate at 2-1 and Tom Ottaway-State Farm at 1-2.
Thursday is Coyote (65 plus) day. Players Pub has jumped out to a 3-0 lead over Red Earth Tile and Stone at 0-3. The Stoners are going to have granite up here pretty quick.
Friday has two leagues going this Spring with Competitive and Community. In Competitive, Oro Ford has jumped out to a 2-1 lead with Nara Brown-Long Realty at 1-2. In Community, SaddleBrooke TWO is off to a 3-0 start putting Ridgeview Physical Therapy behind the 8 ball here in a short eight week season. The Therapists are 0-3.
Tournament News – Memorial Day Past/Labor Day Future!
The SaddleBrooke Softball Association sponsors four tournaments each year (St. Pat’s, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Veterans Day), with softball “dramedy”, music, food, fun, and lotsa neighborly chanting and chattering. And for some of us, that’s plenty. We just past Memorial Day and the tournament and games and food and fun was all over the field!!! Sponsored appreciatively by Debra Miller-State Farm Insurance and Ambient Air Heating and Cooling. Thanks again!
Jim Wollock
Well, a sad day for SB softball. Our friend and teammate, Jim Wollock, passed recently to his own “field of dreams.” A tip of the baseball cap, Jim. Here’s now to a shutout every game you pitch, and a homerun every at bat.
Post-Game Wrap
Well, as said, our Memorial Day Tournament was May 25 and is “in the book.” Next Up? Labor Day–the first Monday in September! Meantime, Spring League games are daily, Monday through Friday, starting at 8 a.m. Practices are on Saturday when you can tune the bat and glove. If you want more info, come on down to the field. Or you can surf the Association at saddlebrookesoftball.com.
