Former Air Force pilot Doug May was recently installed as the newest president of The Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke. This is one of over 32,000 Rotary clubs throughout the world which all follow the motto, “Service above Self.”

“Our primary fundraiser, the Fore For Kids annual charity golf tournament, has had twenty consecutive years of success,” Doug told the club during the annual Passing of the Gavel ceremony. “Consistent with this title, we emphasize serving youth organizations and activities and this will continue to be our main theme in the new club year.”

Doug and his wife Ritha are thirteen-year residents of SaddleBrooke, and he has been a member of this Rotary club for twelve years. His background includes an Air Force career during which he served two tours in Vietnam as a pilot and ten years in space programs. This was followed by a second career in the aerospace industry. Doug has been teaching as an adjunct at the University of Arizona for ten years and currently mentors design teams in the Senior Engineering Design course.

The Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke is packed with energetic volunteers of all ages coming together as friends in Rotary to assist area schools, our community and international philanthropies. Rotary is open to those who are retired or work in SaddleBrooke, SaddleBrooke Ranch and surrounding communities. If this sounds like something of interest to you, come join us for lunch on Thursday at the SaddleBrooke One Clubhouse. For more information contact Wendy Guyton at 520-404-5712 or [email protected].
