Batteries Not Included!

In April 2022, the Mammoth Police Department contracted dispatch services from Pinal County and was able to obtain the official Pinal County radios to use for police work in the area. There was just one problem: Batteries were not included. To complicate the matter, there was no money in the police or town budgets to support such a large purchase.
Dave Daubers and Dan Watson, members of the Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke, heard about this urgent need for the Mammoth Police Department. As a retired chief of police in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., Dan Watson knew so well the urgency of this situation. When Dan retired to SaddleBrooke Ranch, he felt the law enforcement connection from Mammoth Lakes, Calif., to Mammoth, Ariz. Dan rallied the members of the Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke to provide the funding for these unique batteries for these special police radios.
At the Mammoth City Council meeting on Thursday, June 16, the Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke presented the Town of Mammoth with the funds to purchase these special, rechargeable batteries for the police department radios. Members of the Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke attended the beginning of the Town Council meeting to support Dan as he presented the check to Chief Hank Mueller and the Town of Mammoth. Members of the club are so honored to be able to help the Mammoth Police Department have working radio equipment. It’s also an honor for us to watch the former police chief of Mammoth Lakes assist the brotherhood of law enforcement officers in Mammoth.
This is just one of several local philanthropies of the Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke. In addition to making a difference both locally and globally, the Rotarians love to get together to socialize and learn. Rotary International is the largest volunteer organization in the world and is in more countries than the Red Cross, McDonald’s, or Starbucks.
The Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke is not only an award-winning organization devoted to making a difference locally and globally, it is also a club that enjoys coming together for lunch and lifelong learning. We currently meet weekly at the Ranch House at SaddleBrooke Ranch and on Zoom. Plus, we enjoy getting together for social events and service projects. We have fun making a difference.
