The 2016 SaddleBrooke Men’s Golf Association held its final tournament of the year November 30, December 3, completing on December 7. Ron Curtis finished the three day tournament with an overall low net score of 205, one stroke better than the second overall low net score by Doug Swartz at 206. He averaged a net score of 68.33 strokes per round.
The tournament is a net-only event flighted into six flights named for previous presidents of the SMGA. Thus, the winner can come from any flight that has the lowest overall net score for the three days. This year there were 71 members who played in the tournament and each day the tournament committee paid the four lowest net scores in each flight. There were payouts to 48 players in the six flights for the prize pool of $2,000. Over two-thirds of the field won some of the prize pool money.
First and second place winners in the various flights were Avery Flight Doug Swartz first place with Dave Schliepsiek second; Toney Flight, Ron Walter first and John Alton second; Tessitore Flight Chris Mobley first and Dennis McCabe second; Baravik Flight Larry Crum first and Mike Levy second; Robison Flight Ron Curtis first and John Eakin second and in the Brown Flight Jack Marks first and Carl Travor second.
The overall winner, Ron Curtis, and the flight winners were all recognized in an Awards Dinner held in the Vistas at the end of the tournament. Congratulations to all the winners and all who participated in the tournament. Next year’s tournament will be held November 29 and December 2 and 6.
