Red Cross Needs Blood

Michael and Laurie Lien

As always, the holidays have left the blood supply needed to meet demands very short. SaddleBrooke has always been a shining light when answering the call for donors. Let’s all start 2024 with a life-giving gesture. Our next blood drive is on Jan. 13 at MountainView ballroom from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Also, I want everyone to know what a great donation year we had in 2023. We topped out with 486 units for the year, the most we have ever collected. SaddleBrooke and the surrounding community donors should be very proud.

As a blood donor, you do something extraordinary with each donation. You give families hope. You give patients courage. And you give those who need it most, life. Donors like you make all the difference. That is why your donation for this drive is more important than ever. The need for blood is constant, and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every two to three seconds, and most of us will need blood in our lifetime.

To schedule your appointment, please go to www.redcrossblood.org or call 800-733-2767. Also, you can start the donation process before leaving home by completing the RapidPass online pre-donation and health history questionnaire from your mobile device or Blood Donor app on the day of your appointment. You can save up to 15 minutes. Learn more at www.redcrossblood.org/RapidPass. We hope to see you all.

Side Note: Michael and I have been running the blood drives in SaddleBrooke for four years. We would like to retire and allow someone else to take over. Michael and I volunteered as a couple, but it can be done easily by one person. If interested, please email us at [email protected] or [email protected].

Blood drives for 2024: Jan. 13, March 16 (changed from March 23 due to a conflict in the ballroom), May 18, July 20, Sept. 14, and Nov. 9
