The Catalina Timewalkers chapter of Questers met on Friday, January 18, in the home of Sylvia Munsen. Sylvia presented a program entitled “Celebrating the Songs of WWI.” Members followed the history of the Great War through a PowerPoint presentation with the covers of sheet music from the beginning of the war in 1914, to the U.S. entering the war in 1917, to the end of the war in 1918 and its aftermath. Everyone enjoyed singing some of the most popular tunes of the time such as Over There, Smiles, K-K-K-Katy, and Oh How I Hate to get up in the Morning. Kathy Turner will present a program “Gems from Around the World” at our next meeting on February 16, 2019.
The Catalina Timewalkers welcomes new members. We meet on the third Friday from October through May. Exceptions are December and May when we meet on the second Friday of the month. The purpose of Questors is to stimulate the appreciation of antiques and collectibles through study and to encourage the restoration and preservation of historic landmarks. Call Sandi Newberry at 520-818-0199 if you are interested in attending a meeting or want more information.
