The theme for the social gathering that took place on April 24 was Mixed Pickle. It was a very successful event of 48 participating senior men and women Pickleball players. We had a wonderful time doing the meeting/greeting/playing thing. Categories were dill, gherkin, bread and butter, relish, kosher and sweet. All six courts at Ridgeview were going with a flurry of activity from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Twenty minute intervals were played in a rotation of groups A and B.
Refreshments were served throughout play time under a canopy of blue and included, bottled water, orange slices, grapes, chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal cookies.
Pickleball in SaddleBrooke is a wonderful opportunity to have fun exercising and meeting new neighbors of all playing levels. Our membership is 650 strong and growing. The sport is the fastest growing racquet sport for our age group in North America. It is a rapid paced paddle sport played on a badminton sized court with a low net. Graphite or composite paddles are used to play with a whiffle ball. It is easy to learn, terrific exercise, very social and just a wonderful way to mix with your friends and neighbors.
SaddleBrooke offers a great playing experience for all levels who want to play and improve their play. Please come and join the fun times; it’s at your doorstep, just open the door—you will be glad you did.
Special thanks to the Pickleball Social Committee: Co-chairs Cherrill Kallio and Angela Martin followed by Nancy Carlson, Karen Carlberg, Linda Cornish, Angela Gothard, Debbie Hill, Pat Morris and Gail Thom. Any of these ladies can be reached for questions about the above event or future social events; we welcome volunteers.
