The 50s and 60s Sock Hop, Thursday, November 3 was canceled. For those of you who wanted to attend, please accept my apologies. The management of MountainView decided selling tickets made this a private, non-club dance, so they added a room use charge. To clear up any confusion, the next 50s and 60s Sock Hops will be for members of the Partner’s Western Dance Club. Please email me if you would like to join the club. The club is chartered in both HOA 1 and HOA 2. Everyone who lives in SaddleBrooke or the Ranch is welcome to join our club and attend the dance. Dance Fun is the purpose of the club. If you want to attend the club’s present day country music dances, you can attend those also. It is your choice which dances you would like to attend, Nostalgic 50s and 60s or present day or both! The more people who are interested, the more dances we will schedule.
We have two Sock Hop dances scheduled for 2017. The first one is Thursday, January 19 in the MountainView Ballroom. The second dance is Thursday, March 2. We will have the same great band, 3 Jacks and a Julie (AKA Wild Ride). They will play the same great music we enjoyed at the Sock Hops last year. A live band adds extra excitement to a dance, especially when they are good!
3 Jacks and A Julie will play many of our favorites from the 50s and 60s. The Everly Brothers, Elvis, Roy Orbison, the Beach Boys and Patsy Cline. The band is so talented. I don’t have to build them up in this article; their music speaks for them. When they play the Righteous Brothers’ Unchained Melody there isn’t a woman listening who doesn’t want to be up on the dance floor in her partner’s arms swaying to the music. Come experience it for yourself.
Doors and cash bar will open at 6:00 p.m. and the band will start performing at 6:30 p.m. They will play until 9:30 p.m. Wear your poodle skirt and saddle shoes or your 50s – 60s costume or dress as we do today; come and listen to the band or come and dance. This promises to again be a very entertaining evening. Return to those youthful days; let’s have fun at a (shoes on) Sock Hop!
Join the club! Come and dance! Come and listen!
