The Oracle School District staff and Governing Board are committed to continuously improving financial efficiencies which in turn ensures that the number of dollars that directly impacts students is maximized. This team effort helps the District continuously improve the learning environment by providing conditions that are safe and conducive to academic growth.
For the fifth consecutive year the Oracle School District received the Excellence in Financial Reporting Award. The Oracle School District was recognized by both the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) and the Government Finance Officers Association for its stellar work producing the District Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
More good news and evidence that the District is heading in the right direction are some key financial statistics reported in an annual operational efficiency document provided by the Arizona Office of the Auditor General. Since 2013 the District has cut its administrative costs from 15.8% to 12.5% of the total budget. The Auditor General’s office reports that Instructional per pupil spending in the District is $118 per student higher than its peers and $686 higher than the state average. This same report uses this type of financial data to assign an overall financial stress assessment for school districts. The report concludes that the financial stress level of the District has lowered from “high” in 2013 to “moderate” in 2014 and to “low” in 2015.
Because of fiscal due diligence and strong support from the communities in the Oracle School District including SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch, the District continues to be able to make much needed improvements that enhance the learning experience for its students. Students this year were provided a new music program complete with an orchestra class, a literacy intervention program that will help struggling students read at their proper grade level and vital educational technology upgrades. It is our mission to expand expectations for our students which can only happen with our wonderful community support and an active and engaged Governing Board.
