Opportunities abound in belonging to the SaddleBrooke Singers

Steph Mattie

When I joined the SaddleBrooke Singers several years ago, I had no idea how many musical, social and leadership opportunities would be available to me. I have previously written about the fellowship and welcoming atmosphere in the group. Now, I’d like to mention how SaddleBrooke Singers has introduced me to additional singing groups. I recently participated in the “Let Freedom Sing,” 4th of July program at Centennial Hall, along with six of the SB Singers. I would not have known about this wonderful musical experience if my friends from SB Singers had not invited me to join them in this activity. I also have to thank fellow SB Singers for encouraging me to perform in the 2018 Variety Show and to those who invited me to join the Sonoran Singers. Without the connections I have made in SaddleBrooke Singers, I most likely would not have had the confidence to seek these opportunities.

And now let me talk about another opportunity that exists in the Singer organization. In regards to leadership roles, let me introduce you to the 2018 SaddleBrooke Singer officers: President Jay Hansen, Vice President Kathy Brown, Treasurer Jim Barrett, Secretary Steph Mattie and Music Coordinator Monica Gray. Along with our director, Tanya Elias-Graf, these members work together to keep the group and performances running smoothly. I am thankful to be included with this team of officers whose dedication is allowing the SaddleBrooke Singers to thrive!

That brings me to some exciting news for members of the SaddleBrooke community. If you’re like me, you read or hear about clubs and activities that sound appealing, but you wonder what opportunities may be a good fit for you. Are you a pianist who is interested in playing for an enthusiastic chorus, as well as performing for an appreciative crowd? We will all miss and want to thank Carole Whitney, one of our great accompanists, who is retiring from the club. Or are you a visual graphics aficionado who would enjoy using your technology skills in the SB Singer shows? Audiences have always been delighted by the slideshows that have accompanied our performances, produced by Ken Crossman and Nancy Moore. So, here’s your chance to shine! If you’re interested in either of these opportunities the SaddleBrooke Singers would love to welcome you! Please contact Jay Hansen to get more details.

And for those of you who like to sing, don’t forget that the new season of SaddleBrooke Singers is right around the corner. Our rehearsals will kick off on Sunday, September 16. The SaddleBrooke Singers Organization is comprised of SaddleBrooke residents and has been presenting programs to the community for almost 25 years.
