News from the Spanish Culture Club of SaddleBrooke

Sandy Brooks

A holiday fiesta was held December 8 by the Spanish Culture Club of SaddleBrooke with tapas and desserts made by members of the club. Judy Freeman presented a very interesting program on the trip to Chiapas, Mexico, in which she and several members of our club participated in November. What a fantastic trip they had!

The club is in the process of planning meetings and special events for 2015. In January Nile and Ann Vernon presented a program on Iguazu Falls from the Brazilian perspective. A joint meeting with the SaddleBrooke Francophiles is being planned for the spring. On another occasion we are hoping to meet with an expert on Cuba. Cinco de Mayo is another big event for us. The club meets monthly for interesting presentations and discussions, sometimes with food and wine. We also try to keep our members informed of the many cultural activities that Tucson has to offer. Last year we participated in many of these activities as a group or individually. You do not need to speak Spanish to become a member. However, on the second Monday of the month we meet for a Spanish speaking breakfast at 8:00 a.m. at the Roadrunner Grill.
