News from GLAAS

The membership of GLAAS met Friday evening, April 13, at the Activity Center for a social gathering of food and fun. It was, as you recall, Friday the 13th. Several guests from out of state joined us for the fun and several new members were introduced.

The membership was divided into teams and several rounds of charades were played. Topics included movies, books and songs. It was fun to see how much we all remembered, or in some cases, how much we never knew! Laughter aside, the winning team was crowned and emoji bookmarks and small bottles of wine were distributed to those winners. The group then shared a buffet of plentiful potluck food that was delicious and varied from chicken wings, homemade salads, pasta and dessert. Sheryl Nugent, who celebrated her birthday on this date, was honored with a special cake. The group also shared many hugs and thanks for her leadership at the SaddleBrooke One fitness center – as she is retiring in early May. (Submitted by Shellie Pierce, Social Chair)

The June potluck will be at a member’s house and will be announced soon.

On July 9, 2018 at the SaddleBrooke One Activity Center from 5:30-7:30 p.m. we will have a potluck dinner and activities. More to be announced later.

Throughout the year GLAAS sponsors educational forums as well as social events related to its mission of fostering tolerance and support for LGBT people and their allies. GLASS is a social club open to all SaddleBrooke One and SaddleBrooke TWO members. The objective of the club is to use the power of community and camaraderie to celebrate the lives of gay, lesbian and straight people and their relationships.
