At the requests of local residents and photographers, a new photography club was formed and is welcoming new members. SaddleBrooke Photography Club will provide an informal, friendly and supportive environment for all levels of experience from beginners and intermediate to advanced photographers. “Our club will foster and encourage growth of artistic vision by exploring the connection between eye, light, camera and the spirit,” said Barbara Wilder, well-known local artist and photographer. More advanced photographers will share technical knowledge, techniques and tips. The meetings will alternate between photo shares and guest speakers, member slide show presentations and focus groups. There will be frequent field trips in the planning to places of interest in the southern Arizona area.
The first get-together and planning meeting was held on Friday, March 24 at 9:00 a.m. in the Agate Room at the MountainView arts complex building. The officers were introduced to the group and gave an overview of the vision and purpose of the new club. The officers of the SaddleBrooke Photography Club are Roddy Wilder, president, Bernie Nagy, vice-president, Barbara Wilder, secretary/treasurer and Linda Nagy, publicity chairman. All 14 people in attendance had the opportunity to introduce themselves and say what they would like to see as the new club progresses. The first outing to photograph wildflowers was planned for the beginning of April at Catalina State Park. The annual membership fee of the club is $10 for individuals and $15 for families.
