Many of us are eagerly anticipating the Tucson Spring Sectional Tournament April 11 through 14 at the Hotel Tucson. Yes, that is a change to the normal schedule, Monday (charity game) through Thursday this year, due to the venue’s ownership change. It may well prove beneficial to the games as our tournament attendance has been strong on weekdays. The very popular Swiss team event, which includes lunch, will be Thursday, April 14. Tournament flyers with all the details are available at our games. MountainView Bridge Club will be closed Tuesday, April 12 for the tournament. We will resume our normal schedule on Friday, April 15. File your taxes and head down to DesertView for a rousing game. Nothing washes the sting of tax time out of your mind as thoroughly as a game of Duplicate Bridge. Forget the tax man—it’s your partner’s fault.
March was a wonderful month for our newer players. Sue Hagerty and Dean Frost had an awe-inspiring 71.63% game February 5. As C players (who knew?) they were first overall. Other C players with outstanding results—placing first overall for their direction— were the partnerships of Peter Godfrey and Steve Sahl, Midge Miller and Betty Edwards and Bob Saner and Barbara Werdell (twice). Of course our excellent A and B players continue to dominate and in most cases, teach, inadvertently or not, how the rest of us should play the game.
MountainView Duplicate Bridge Club plays Tuesday and Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the DesertView Mariposa Room. Table fees are $4. New players are always welcome and, as documented above, often successful. If you need a partner, call Jean Reitan at 520-445-8225 or email her at [email protected]. All details about results, calendar, etc. can be found at our website: www.bridgewebs.com/mountainview.
