Allison Lehman
On September 24, 2016 two female swimmers representing SaddleBrooke Master’s swim team, Lyn Moreno and Allison Lehman, participated in the second annual Jamina Winston Swim Meet up in Mesa, Arizona. They also participated in last year’s meet and had such a good time they decided to do it again. It proved to be a challenging meet and it drew top notch swimmers from all over including a former Olympic swimmer. All proceeds went to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
These ladies spent time preparing and training for the meet on their own. Points were earned by placing in each event and the cumulative score accounted for overall placement in the meet. It should be noted that this was a 25 meter pool; A bit longer than the DesertView pool.
Lyn Moreno, current vice president of the SaddleBrooke Swim Club, placed first in her 65 to 70 year age group! For her efforts she received a coveted medal. She swam the maximum number of five events. She had a personal best time in the 200 free style. She also swam the 50 and 100 meter freestyle, 100 meter back and 100 individual medley (which is all four strokes: free, back, breast and butterfly).
Allison Lehman also swam five events — the 50, 100, 200 back, the 200 breast and the 400 freestyle meter. She dropped 14 seconds off her time in the 400 free from this past summer which is a personal best for her! That is huge! She also had a personal best in the 50 back and 200 breast strokes. She competed against 11 other women in her age group and tied for fourth highest point winner in her age group 55 to 59.
It should be noted that both of these ladies never competed in swimming before moving to SaddleBrooke and joining the swim club.
The SaddleBrooke club practice swims several mornings a week at DesertView pool. Come on down and check out the schedule; other articles and photos under the covered area near the water fountain.
