As our country transitions from Obama to Trump, what can the LGBT community and other minority groups expect? SaddleBrooke’s own GLAAS Club, (Gays, Lesbians and Allies at SaddleBrooke), is presenting a thought-provoking panel discussion which will focus on the challenges the new administration may pose to the civil rights of vulnerable communities.
Panelists will include spokespeople from major civil rights advocacy groups. They are Steve Kilar, Communications Director and attorney for the ACLU, (American Civil Liberties Union); David Martinez III, Board of Governors and Co-Chair of HRC Arizona (Human Rights Campaign); Carlos Galindo-Elvira, Regional Director for the ADL (Anti-Defamation League) and Abby Jensen, a transgender woman, attorney for the Southern Arizona Gender Alliance.
The panelists will discuss the challenges we face and the strategies that their respective advocacy organizations will use to protect the civil rights of marginalized populations such as the LGBT community, Jews, immigrants, people of color and others.
It promises to be an exciting and dynamic panel discussion, so please join us.
The program will be on Monday, April 3, 2017, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the HOA 1 Clubhouse Coyote conference rooms
