SaddleBrooke Links Players capped off its 2015/2016 season with the election of officers for next season and a tournament to decide the Links Cup Champion. Dave Thomas is staying on as president as are Roger Bales as secretary and Tex Whitney as treasurer. Joe Kasile becomes the new vice president. The new season will begin in October of this year and end in May of 2017.
The annual Links Cup Championship was held on April 14 at SaddleBrooke Country Club. Low gross went to Buck Wyles with a 76 and Jim Tayburn won the Cup with a net score of 64, including an eagle on hole No. 4 of the Tucson Course. This is the third year that the Links Cup has been contested. Past winners were Roger Bales in 2014 and Rick Tessitore in 2015.
Lewis Greer, the Arizona Region Director of Links Players International, visited with our SaddleBrooke organization recently and revealed very aggressive plans for the growth of Links Players fellowships in the state of Arizona. Currently there are 11 fellowships across the state and the 5 year plan is to grow that number to over 100. In SaddleBrooke, the current Links organization of 30 people is centered around HOA1, but we are very interested in starting one up in HOA2. If you’re not familiar with who or what Links is, it is a group of people who love the game of golf and want to associate with other Christians.
