On Dec. 12, 51 revelers from the SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club (SBLDC) gathered at the SaddleBrooke One clubhouse to celebrate the holidays in style. For this event, dancers had transformed themselves into all manner of Christmas denizens. There was festive finery, reindeer antlers, elves, Santa’s helpers, and even one representative of “Team Naughty.” The setting, too, was transformed. The Vistas Restaurant where the partiers dined sported its sumptuous holiday décor, and even the Vermillion Room where SBLDC normally holds dance practice was graced with a tall, elegant Christmas tree.
The SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club celebrated this get-together with a series of surprises for the dancers, including a photo booth, a raffle of door prizes, and an unexpected special dance routine performed for partiers by dance leaders and other senior dancers. At the photo booth, friends gathered to take a special picture together, and the Social Committee provided thematic props such as elf hats and reindeer antlers to enhance the photos. The raffle winners carried away prizes such as bottles of holiday cheer, cashmere scarves, and even a food processor. But according to one dancer, Alisa Fenstermacher, “The highlight of the party was when the instructors entertained [club members] with a surprise holiday dance!” The dance was entitled “Let’s Have Some Fun” and was danced to the tune of “YMCA.” Alisa, a newcomer to SaddleBrooke, went on to say that she feels “embraced by this friendly and talented group of dancers.” A fitting tribute to the SBLDC!
As SBLDC dancers have come to expect, the Music and Dance Committees, as well as the Social Committee, pulled out all the stops in making a creative, fun gathering. Celebrants danced to holiday favorites, old and new, perfectly paired to the dances they accompanied. When revelers took a well-earned break, they dined together at large, white-draped tables, surrounded by the lovely Vistas holiday décor and the breathtaking Santa Catalina Mountains just outside the windows. On the menu was a choice of marinated skirt steak, chicken marsala, or butternut squash and quinoa stuffed mushroom. But before long, they were back on the dance floor, doing what they do best!
