How long has it been since you’ve taken a swim? Are you perhaps frustrated by a lack of progress in coordinating your breathing and stroke? Is the thought of swimming laps alone not appealing but the idea of participating in coached practices alongside competitive swimmers somewhat daunting? If you would like to begin or return to swimming but have hesitated to take the plunge for any of a number of reasons, the SaddleBrooke Swim Club and its upcoming Let’s Swim program may be just your ticket to swim. Yes, you may have read or heard from others how successful SaddleBrooke’s swimmers have been in state-wide competitions and thought there may be no room in the pool for a non-competitive, recreational swimmer. In fact, the SaddleBrooke Swim Club has always welcomed swimmers of all abilities and skill levels. The SaddleBrooke Masters Swim Team is actually a competitive team within the club. While there are benefits to be gained in joining U.S. Masters Swimming, there is no requirement to do so and if one does join, there is no obligation to swim competitively in meets. In fact, many of our members swim purely for fitness and recreational enjoyment.

From about mid-October through mid-May, the club holds coach-led workouts five days weekly. During the other month’s club members will meet on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and follow printed workouts prepared by summer coaches. Beginning this summer the club will initiate a Let’s Swim program designed for those community members just beginning to swim and those perhaps returning to swimming following a long hiatus as well as purely recreational swimmers. Beginning on Wednesday, July 6 the club proposes to hold two sessions weekly, on Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:30 a.m. at the DesertView pool. During those sessions, in a totally non-threatening environment, coaches will be available to encourage beginners in improving their abilities, assist swimmers with their techniques and to guide them through workouts. For additional information on the Let’s Swim program we, invite you to contact Lyn Moreno, club vice president, at 707-971-9101 or Jeff Eighmy at 906-2085. You can also email Lyn or Jeff at [email protected].

We look forward to having you join us on Wednesday, July 6 at 8:30 a.m. Come down to the DesertView pool and experience again the fun of swimming!
