On the afternoon of January 2, several SaddleBrooke Dance Club members brought in the New Year with approximately 50 residents at the La Cholla Country Club Assisted Living Facility. We had a great time and so did they. Most of the folks who made up the audience were familiar with music from the 1940s, so they were really enthusiastic about the music to which we danced. They were there tapping their toes, clapping and seat-shimmying. They laughed hard and enjoyed the show and we truly had fun with them.
Gus and Gina, a couple who often disc jockey at SaddleBrooke, provided the dance music from an amazing set of amplifiers and speakers. They had also made the arrangements with the La Cholla Country Club and invited Let’s Dance Club to be part of the entertainment. We intend to join them at other venues in the future.
Individual dances were performed by Barry Moore and Mary Borkovec who did the Cha Cha, by Nancy and Neil Macdonald who did Swing and by Steve and Rita Holdener who entertained with the Bachata. Also dancing were Tom and Ann Kurtz who did not only Rumba but also a lovely Foxtrot and Tom and Mary Borkovec who are terrific with their Argentine Tango and made a sexy couple on the dance floor. It was all good!
We loved it; the audience loved it and there could not have been a better time had between those who started out that afternoon as strangers.

Classes are free to members of Let’s Dance. Membership is $10 per year per person and includes membership in the SaddleBrooke Ballroom Dance Club as well.
Open Dance Saturdays
10:00 a.m. to noon at the SaddleBrooke Clubhouse Vermilion Room except for Special Features dates noted above at the MountainView Ballroom.
The first half hour will feature music from the class taught the previous Wednesday. A variety of dance music will be played for the remaining time. This is a great time to practice all your dance patterns and pick up some new ones from others.
